Question
Competition between species will be greatest if they attempt to occupy the same
Correct Answer
Option C is the correct answer.
Detailed Explanation
The competitive exclusion principle states that two species cannot coexist indefinitely if they occupy the exact same niche. The niche is the species' role and resource use in the ecosystem. If they share the same niche, their needs are identical, leading to intense competition. Sharing the same habitat (physical space) is possible if they occupy different niches.
